IDPA Shooting Fundamentals
Join us at Ripon Rifle & Pistol Club for an in-depth day of training as we cover the topics and techniques that are required to be successful in IDPA. This 1-Day course will cover the objectives of IDPA and present principles that can vastly improve your IDPA match performance. This course will be taught by our Lead Instructor Brandon Powers, who is a master class shooter in IDPA.
Round Count: 400
The round count provided is a SAFE ESTIMATE. You may not shoot all of them. If you want to bring twice as many, that's up to you. If you can only afford to bring half as much, give us a heads up and we'll adjust accordingly.
Required Equipment:
PLEASE make sure you have working, proven equipment, ammunition that runs, spare batteries (if you have an optic), and a backup if you think you'll need it. Malfunctions and consistent issues hinder your ability to learn, and you'll be wasting good money on a learning experience that's punctuated by gun or ammo problems. We hate to see students lose out on knowledge and training because of equipment issues. We cannot stress enough - We want you to get the most out of any class that you can - please make sure your equipment is running, zeroed, and proven.
Sustainment:
You can't live without water, it's probably a fact. There’s a huge mental component to shooting, so please bring enough water and food to keep you and your brain going throughout the day of training.

9 September, 2023This class was much more than learning about techniques to be successful in IDPA matches. Participants included two people with about 1 year of experience with handguns to a former U.S. Marine and police officer with 50+ years of shooting handguns. Ages varied from 20's to 3 men in their 70's. Safety was the No.1 priority. It was emphasized and practiced throughout the day while on the range. Brandon is very good at demonstrating techniques that will improve a person's speed and accuracy with drills to be practiced. He spent time with each participant to analyze what they were doing, whether it be correct or perhaps needed improvement. He would show us how to make adjustments to improve. Brandon helped me with a number of things that have resulted, with practice and training, in better shooting. As an aside, I never felt like I was in a competition with other people enrolled in the class. Brandon and his assistant Bill focused on each participant to help them get better. The class exceeded my expectations. I've taken a number of classes with Brandon because he is aware of the topics and a very good teacher with years of experience. It was a great day on the training range.

5 May, 2023This is an excellent class for those who are either early on into competitive shooting as well as those that have been shooting awhile like I have. Brandon runs a great structured class with plenty of individual coaching. The techniques and drills he teaches in the class can be incorporated into one’s own training and practice regimen for continuous improvement. A great class and a great instructor.
